More than just the logo I created, Colombia is in my blood.

Everywhere that you go in Colombia, there is art.

Juana Venegas

My artistic journey began as a child in Colombia, where my father was an architect. His vision for beauty in buildings translated to my origin in art because he taught me that art, much like building design, has movement. Once I saw the world through the lens my father provided, my journey as an artist began.

In Colombia, art is everywhere.

Not just in the streets, though, but inside homes and out. If you go to someone’s home for a meal, you’ll see art, whether they made it themselves or purchased from a local artist, Colombia has a vibrant existence with art. While Fernando Botero, Gabriel García Márquez, Édgar Negret Dueñas, Pedro Nel Gómez, and Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt may have the international name recognition, visit the downtown Bogota flea market and you’ll find a wealth of amazing art. My memory always stretches back to an incredible man who made clocks with records, a unique way to reuse and repurpose, seeding my own artistic journey.

That origin, in Colombia, is not the end of the story, though, it is just the beginning.

Evolution Art is me because I am that development and diversification. In every stage of my life, my art changed. At the beginning, when I was in a different head space, depressed at times, my work had a different perspective, more linear, less color. Many things in life awoke different aspects of my art, such as motherhood, which became a constant part of my dedication to life and art. Everytime something happened in my life, the art (like life) moved along with it.

Now, I live in Boca Raton, Florida and I see similarities in the vibrance and color of this state, in relation to my beginnings in Colombia. The history is much different, but as I have built a life here, I’ve seen the growth in my art. I branched out to more materials, always staying true to my desire to reuse, repurpose, and recycle. I broadened my perspective and color palette, to match my growth as an individual, a mother, a wife, and a person. Taking it all in, I can’t wait for what’s next!
